The Man in the Iron Mask (AmazonClassics Edition)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born in Villers-Cotterêts in northern France, Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) is one of the most prolific and widely read French authors in the world.

Raised by a widowed mother, Dumas received little in the way of a proper education. But as a young, voracious reader, he was learned and motivated. After moving to Paris, Dumas began his career as an essayist, travel writer, playwright, and novelist. Today, he is best known as the author of such high adventures as The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Man in the Iron Mask, and The Prince of Thieves. His work has been translated into nearly one hundred languages and has inspired almost three hundred motion pictures.
